Funding

This is the part we've all be looking forward to!
Even though majority of the degree programs have next to no tuition fees, and the language & short course fees are low compared to the US or Canada, there is still funding for them!
These scholarships can not only be put towards course or tuition fees, but also help pay for incidental education fees, flights, accommodations, and overall living costs. Some even offer health and accident insurance, rent subsidies, and more.
Let's look at 3 scholarships!
If you're interested in pursuing a MA in Germany through the DAAD, you NEED to apply for this funding!
During an entire MA program in Germany or 1 year of studying in Germany as part of a MA program at your home university, this scholarship offers €934 a month, a travel allowance that varies from country to country (Canada is between €900 - €1750, or ~$1327 - $2414), a one-time study allowance of between €460 - €260 (~$333 - $188 CAD) depending on country of origin, insurance, a monthly rent subsidy, monthly allowance for accompanying family members, funding for language course fees in preparation of your studies in Germany, and so much more!
If you're interested in pursuing a doctoral degree in aeronautics at the Technical University of Munich or the University of the German Armed Forces Munich, this may just be the scholarship for you!
This scholarship provides monthly funding of €1,575 (~ $2323 CAD or $1687 USD) for 1-3 years.
This is the scholarship that goes with the German Literature and Cultural Studies course mentioned prior. It is a one time payment of €1,134 to €1,309 (~$1672 - 1930 CAD or $1215 - 1402 USD) depending on country of origin, as well as a travel allowance that also depends on country of origin. For example, western Canada qualifies for €687.50 (~$1014 CAD) and eastern Canada qualifies for €587.50 (~$866 CAD).
These are just a few of the scholarships available. To explore all the DAAD scholarships and find out if your eligible, check out their scholarship database. Simply choose your level of education, country of origin, subject, and intention to see all the funding opportunities.
If you're looking for funding that is specifically for musicians and artists, check out the 5 funding programs that the DAAD has to offer.
TIP!

It is also always good to look into the funding at your home university!
Most universities have some funding available for international experiences. I know from personal experience as I applied and received funding from my university when I was studying abroad in Germany last summer.
